Before Jesus’ ascension, He instructed His disciples in their future, their mission and their message. The message was complete and involved a great vision, a heart for adventure and a love of people. Luke reports in Luke 24.44-47 that Jesus’ conversation with His disciples was one of depth, power, and purpose! vigourous gives us a rundown of what Jesus had to say in Luke 24.44-47:

‘44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 And He opened their

understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.’
‘46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise[h] from the dead the

Jesus said, '"Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!"'

third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem[i] until you are endued with power from on high.”’

Let’s ask the Lord for His boldness. Let’s let the Lord give us the imagination to see each head of grain as the face of a lost soul on their way to a Christ-less eternity! If we are followers of Christ, we have the most dignified commission of all–to reach people with the only message that saves.

Let Jesus give you His dream of reaching the world and fulfilling the Great Commission!
